47% of America

I find this story on CBS News very interesting because it coincides with my viewpoint that a large amount of Americans are dependent on the government. I don't necessary believe that most of Obama's supporters are dependent on the government, but I do believe a majority of Americans have a sense of entitlement to food, health care and other social programs. Almost half of Americans don't pay income taxes. These things shouldn't be rights and should be earned.  If you don't work you don't get paid. That's basically what I'm saying. Yes, I understand that most Americans weren't lucky enough to be raised by high income families including myself, but you have to play the cards you were dealt with. The only obstacle holding anyone back in this government is themselves.  According to the book, the Millionaire Next Door  by Thomas J. Stanley, PhD and William D. Danko, Ph.D. About 80% of millionaires are first generation millionaires. Does this mean that these millionaires never used any government benefits, of course not. There is a difference on being dependant on the government and using benefits that the government has provided. For example, a large majority of Americans went to public schools. One of the few things the government should fund, a free education, but this sense of entitlement to free healthcare or the government imposing on everyone to have healthcare is infringing on our individual freedoms. That's the beauty of individual liberty. You can choose to have children on any income, but there shouldn't be a sense of entitlement to an individual because they choose to have children on a low income.

Going back to the original topic of the story. I believe in Mitt Romney's comments in the articles minus the part that says most of Obama's supports are dependent on the government. This commentary is going to hurt Mitt Romney’s chances of getting elected President because independent voters like myself are going to view him as an even more arrogant person and  someone not in touch with the middle class.
